Before the meeting we will guide you through how mediation will work and agree where it will take place.
When you take the first step to get in touch, we will ask for some background information to understand what you need.
We will arrange a first short meeting, by phone or video call so that we can understand a little bit of background and understand what you are looking for. We will suggest a format and length of mediation and talk to you about how it will work.
Often both parties involved will have already agreed to mediation and we will ask for the contact details of the other people involved so that we can have the same conversations about what is going on and what to expect from mediation. If this hasn't been done, we can make contact for you.
We recommend that it is in a neutral location and we need to make sure that there are enough rooms for participants to meet away from each other and together. We work with a number of venues which are all reasonably priced so we can help to arrange these for you. The cost of the room hire and refreshments is in addition to the mediation fees. Some shorter mediation sessions can be held online through video conferences. We host these and there is no additional charge for them.
When everyone is ready to agree to mediate, all parties will receive and sign a mediation agreement. The agreement sets out that the mediation will be confidential and without prejudice. We will confirm the location of the session, how long it will be and the cost. Fees for mediation are paid before the session.
